The Electoral College
- Each state has as many electoral votes as it has Senators and Representatives in Congress.
- People vote and their state representatives almost always vote for what the majority of the state voted.
- The electorates are selected by state parties.
- 48 of the 50 states have a winner take all system, which means who ever gets the most votes in a state receives all the electoral votes from that state. (Maine and Nebraska don't have this)
- Electorates meet in December of the election year to cast their votes.
- Votes are counted by the Senate and the vice president reports the winner.
- If there is a tie then it goes to the House of Representative and each state has one vote
